The 2019 Hawai’i Adaptive Surfing Championships kicks off it’s holding period!

To be held in Waikiki the week of Monday June 17th to Saturday 22nd

DIVISIONS AND JUDGING INFORMATION


This year features seven competitive divisions, six of which are official qualifying divisions for the “Nalu Award” superheat, which will crown an overall adaptive champion.

Depending upon registrations all divisions may be expanded to include men’s/women’s, A/B competitive divisions, as well as accommodating more specific surfing styles such as SUP. 1st – 4th place awards will be given for each competitive division.

Please note that all competitive divisions are for surfers with medically diagnosed physical disabilities.

PLEASE NOTE: All athletes must provide their own equipment, athletes competing in the assisted division must also provide their own water support staff.

ATHLETE CLASSIFICATION


The Hawaii Adaptive Surfing Championships classification system is in development and strives to facilitate an inclusive classification system that levels the playing field of competitive adaptive surfing.

June 16th
11:00am Setup – Volunteers needed to set up the event site
9:45am-1:00pm & 12:45-4:00pm Classification (2 volunteers per shift)
Volunteers will monitor and greet athletes to facilitate flow in the classification process. Will collect papers and communicate needs for classifiers.
 
June 17th: 
8:45-12pm & 11:45-3:00pm Classification (2 volunteers per shift)
Volunteers will monitor and greet athletes to facilitate flow in the classification process. Will collect papers and communicate needs for classifiers.
4:15-5:45pm  Opening Ceremony Help (5 volunteers)
5:45-8:15pm  Hawaiian Aroma Cafe – Kick off Party (2 volunteers – POC needed for cleanup)
June 19th:
9:30-12:30om Surfing with the Stars (4 volunteers)
Set-up and help with event.
June 22nd:
2:45-6:00pm Hard Rock Cafe – Pau Hana (1 lead to plan/coordinate WHOLE event (POC) & 1 support person)
June 22nd:
Beach Clean Up
7:45-8:30 – 2 volunteers.. Volunteers to assist with check-in of those coming to help with the clean-up
10:00-11:15 – 4 volunteers… Volunteers to pick up the lunch order and help distribute.  Two volunteers can go pick up food while the other two wait at the curb to receive the food.
11:30ish – 1 volunteer with a truck who is willing to help truck rubbish bags over to Kaimana
June 23rd:
Tear Down – Volunteers needed to tear down the event site
