On February 24th, 2024, was a HISTORIC day in Nazaré, Portugal.

A battle for the Guinness World Record for the largest wave ever surfed took place.

Two surfers in the sea attempting to ride waves over 100 feet tall on a stormy day at Praia do Norte, in front of hundreds of people who filled the cliff to witness a day that will go down in the books.

Lucas Chumbo undoubtedly surfed waves that surpass the record already established in 2022 for the largest wave ever surfed.

Some of the creepiest GIANT Nazare’ we’ve ever seen. How these guys -surfers and Skiers- keep it all together we don’t know. SNN

Now it is time to measure and officially confirm the size of the waves.

It has been over 5 years since Nazaré experienced a swell of such magnitude and under such conditions: a GIANT, STORMY, and WINDY sea with waves exceeding 100 feet.

These conditions made catching waves of this size not only a challenging task but also a VERY DANGEROUS one… a matter of life or death!

What do you think?

Is there a new world record?
