Carissa Moore Wins the 2019 World Title

It’s official! Carissa Moore is the 2019 WSL World Champion. With this historic win, she becomes just the sixth female surfer ever with four World Titles, joining icons Freida Zamba, Wendy Botha, Lisa Andersen, Layne Beachley, and Stephanie Gilmore. She has also provisionally qualified for the 2020 Olympic Games.

HONOLUA BAY, Maui, Hawaii/USA (Monday, December 2, 2019) – The Final Day of the 2019 World Surf League (WSL) Women’s Championship Tour (CT) season will come down to today’s Final Series at the lululemon Maui Pro. The World Title showdown between Carissa Moore (HAW) and Caroline Marks (USA) will start at 7:35 a.m. HST in four-to-six foot (1.2 – 1.8 meter) waves at Honolua Bay with the Quarterfinals, followed by the Semifinals and Final.
The 35-minute Quarterfinals will see three-time WSL Champion Carissa Moore (HAW) up against Nikki Van Dijk (AUS) in Quarterfinal 3, while 17-year-old Caroline Marks (USA) faces seven-time WSL Champion Stephanie Gilmore (AUS) in Quarterfinal 4.

The World Title scenarios for Finals Day of the lululemon Maui Pro:

– If Carissa Moore wins Maui, she clinches the World Title;
– If Moore gets a 3rd, Caroline Marks needs a 1st;
– If Moore gets a 5th, Marks needs a 2nd to force a Surf Off for World Title decision in Maui
