JEFFREYS BAY, South Africa (Saturday, July 16, 2016) – The final day of competition at the J-Bay Open, stop No. 6 on the 2016 Samsung Galaxy World Surf League (WSL) Championship Tour (CT), will recommence today with the Quarterfinals, Semifinals and Finals called ON for a 7:40 a.m. start in clean, building 2-to-4 foot (0.5 – 1.5 metre) waves at Jeffreys Bay.

“That was crazy to get competition underway at the beginning of the window and have three great days,” said WSL Commissioner Kieren Perrow. “Then we went on hold and we’ve been waiting around for quite some time. It’s a beautiful morning and there’s some lines running around the point so we’re really happy. We’re on starting at 7:40 a.m. for Finals Day and it’s going to be exciting.”With the field narrowed down to only seven competitors, today’s competition will see heated battles as the world’s best surfers fight for the Event Title.

Up first is 11-time WSL Champion Kelly Slater (USA) who will take on Josh Kerr (AUS) for a place in the Semifinals against John John Florence (HAW).

Julian Wilson (AUS) will match-up against 2014 WSL Champion Gabriel Medina (BRA) Quarterfinal 3.
