Can you believe it’s been 38 years of ripping?

Some of the parents there in their 30’s 40’s and 50’s surfed in this family event going on almost 4 decades. We should pull it all off this weekend. We at SNN will keep you in the loop. Mahalo and good luck to all the children! GO HERE

My husband Lee Kravitz, Rell Sunn, Sally Prange, Dale Dahlin, Patti Panicchia, Linda McCrerey, Skill Johnson and I (Claudia Kravitz) came up with the idea for the Menehune after the first one at Alii Beach which was really Jann Sunn’s birthday party where we had an informal competition and Rell brought a bunch of her old trophies to give to and encourage the kids. I remember Jann, Sam Fenwick, Kanoa Dahlin I think, and Todd Chesser surfing. The Hawaii Woman’s Surfing Hui was looking for a community service project at the time and the Menehune turned out to be the perfect fit. I those days the youngest division in HSA was Boys and Girls age 14 and under with Junior’s being next at 15-17 so it was really tough for the Menehune back then and we realized that kinda like pre school, starting them younger would be a big help and give them something to aim for. Best of luck to all this year’s Menehune and remember to have fun and support your fellow Menehune surfers…..
