Just 14 year-old, Eli Hanneman from Maui is doing damage not only at the Hello Pacitan Pro in Java this past weekend but also… his face. He maneuvered his way through plenty shallow, heavy lefthand tubes to make it to the semi-finals, but in his Semi heat Eli’s face connected with the shallow reef. The promising talent had to exit mid-heat and tend to his facial lacerations. Luckily he’s ok, nothing major and we can all expect to see Eli charging freesurfs and comps soon.
“I love this place! Thank you @wsl for holding such a sick event at one of my favorite waves. Had so much fun trading off perfect lefts with everyone in the QS 1,000 at Pacitan. Hit my face on the reef, so I had to come in halfway through my semi-final but it still didn’t wipe the smile off my face. I’m more than happy with an equal 3rd. Thanks to everyone who made these past few days so special. 🤙 ” – Eli Hanneman
