Griffin Colapinto Braves The Brazilian Storm For Surf Ranch Pro Victory, Continues Charge To Final 5

San Clemente’s Griffin Colapinto turned in a dominant Final showing, posting near-perfection, over 2019 World Champ Italo Ferreira for his maiden Surf Ranch Pro victory after taking on Yago Dora and Filipe Toledo in his Finals Day surge. Griffin gets his third CT win of his career and is now World No. 1. He will be wearing the coveted yellow leaders jersey at Surf City El Salvador Pro.

Carissa Moore Victorious In Lemoore Once Again, Takes Over World No. 1 Yellow Jersey

5X World Champ Carissa Moore notched her second win (against Caroline Marks) at the Surf Ranch Pro in dominant form. This solidifies Moore’s 28th-career CT victory. Moore is now atop the rankings and will be rocking the yellow leaders jersey at the Surf City El Salvador Pro.

LEMOORE, California/USA (Sunday, May 28, 2023) – Finals Day is ON at the Surf Ranch Pro Presented by 805 Beer, Stop No. 6 on the World Surf League (WSL) Championship Tour (CT). After a full day and night of competition, the field has been narrowed to eight men and four women. The men’s Quarterfinals will start the day at 10:08 a.m. PDT. Women’s and men’s Semifinals and Finals will follow, starting at 12:16 p.m. PDT. The winners of the 2023 Surf Ranch Pro will be crowned this afternoon.

The first heat of the men’s Quarterfinals will feature Day 1 standout Yago Dora (BRA) up against Night Session winner Griffin Colapinto (USA). Dora is hoping for a big result here to move up the rankings and into the Final 5. California’s Colapinto is coming closer to winning his first event of the season in front of friends and family.

Reigning World Champion Filipe Toledo (BRA) is well on his way to defending his title at the Surf Ranch Pro. He will now face Leonardo Fioravanti (ITA), who overcame Kelly Slater (USA) in the Qualifying Round yesterday.

The first Semifinal will be a battle of the two surfers representing the next generation as Caroline Marks (USA) takes on Rookie Caitlin Simmers (USA). Marks looked strong and confident in her Qualifying Round matchup yesterday. Californian Simmers shinned under the lights last night and posted the highest single-wave score of the women to earn her spot in the Semifinals.

Five-time World Champion Carissa Moore (HAW) moved into the top position on the rankings after her Qualifying Round heat win yesterday. Moore will now have to get past Tour veteran Tatiana Weston-Webb (BRA) in the Semifinals if she wants to win her third CT event of the season here at the Surf Ranch.
