Tahitan Pro Surfer, Tuhiti Haumani In Critical Condition after revived by Lifeguards & paramedics at Pipe

Now matter how inticing she can be, Pipeline is deceptively dangerous. (photo: Tuhiti Haumani, last week at Pipeline. Photo: Brent Bielmann)

Most of the time Pipe delivers the best barrels of your life. But occasionally she can kill. After John John Florence won the 2015 Volcom Pipe Pro an afternoon free surf went off with talent from all over the planet trying to get a piece of Pipe. Tahitian surfer Tuhiti Haumani was one among the pack. Tuhiti is a Volcom team rider and a regular around the North Shore, esp. at Pipe. This afternoon, he wiped out on a wave and came up unconscious after hitting his head on his board. A gnarly current made it difficult to rescue him, but North Shore lifeguards were eventually able to pull him in and give him CPR. They were able to give him a slight pulse before he was whisked off to the hospital. Eye witnesses say Huamani was coughing up water before leaving in the ambulance. He was still unconscious and in critical condition. We’ll bring you more details as they come.

Please send thoughts, prayers….
