NORTH SHORE, Oahu/Hawaii – (Tuesday, November 29, 2016) — The first day of the Vans World Cup of Surfing, the second event of the Vans Triple Crown and a World Surf League (WSL) Qualifying Series (QS) 10,000 event, has been called ON today after a series of consecutive lay days on the North Shore of Oahu.”It’s on, we have 4-6 foot (Face Scale), NW swell on hand at Sunset Beach with breezy trades,” said Marty Thomas, Contest Director. “The conditions are forecast to hold steady throughout the course of the day so we’ll finish the Round of 128 and the first two heats of the Round of 96. We’re keeping an eye on a solid 8-12 foot NW swell for the weekend, but will kick this event off at 8am today.”

Heat 1 of Round One will feature Marco Giorgi (URY), Vasco Ribeiro (PRT), Seth Moniz (HAW) and Jamie O’Brien (HAW). Stakes are extremely high as athletes look to qualify for the 2017 WSL Samsung Galaxy Championship Tour here at the Vans World Cup at Sunset Beach, the final QS event of the year. Fans can anticipate heated exchanges in the water and prime surfing from the world’s best.
