Aloha Friends of Bob Kaleikau,
For those of you who couldn't make it to Waimea this Sunday (3/2) morning Da Hui had a beautiful opening ceremony, conducted by Butch Helemano, for their Bodysurfing Contest that was dedicated to Bob Kaleikau. Bob was scheduled to MC the event. All in attendance had kind words to say about Bob.
Also this weekend the Honolulu Medical Examiner updated Bob's cause of death, which had been deferred pending further studies, to Acute Bronchial Pneumonia. Sadly Bob was taking a medication for this. The Medical Examiner considers this to be "natural causes" so there is no further investigation.
Bob's Funeral is now set for Saturday, March 8th, 4:30pm at Ehukai Beach Park. Surf permitting there will be a Paddle Out. There will be a Pot-Luck immediately after the Paddle Out and services at Ehukai Beach Park. Please bring any photos you have of Bob throughout the years as his family will be in attendance and wish to catch up on much of his history in Hawaii.

Bob was always smiling!
Remember Me:
To the living, I am gone.
To the sorrowful, I will never return.
To the angry, I was cheated,
But to the happy, I am at peace,
And to the faithful, I have never left.
I cannot be seen, but I can be heard.
So as you stand upon a shore, gazing at a beautiful sea - remember me.
As you look in awe at a mighty forest and its grand majesty - remember me.
As you look upon a flower and admire its simplicity - remember me.
Remember me in your heart, your thoughts, and your memories of the times we loved, the times we cried, the times we fought, the times we laughed.
For if you always think of me, I will have never gone.
"A butterfly lights beside us like a sunbeam. And for a brief moment its glory and beauty belong to our world. But then it flies on again, and though we wish it could have stayed, we feel so lucky to have seen it...."

Subject: Aloha Bobby
Bobby Kaleikau...what a genuine man with lots of Aloha towards everyone. Bobby was one of our most dedicated Hui O He'e Nalu members. Without hesitation, Bobby would always be there for the Hui when we'd ask him to emcee an event, be a bus escort for our beach clean up or to simply to kokua. You could always find Bobby in his black Hui shorts with his Hui t-shirt and back-pack. He'd never miss a Hui meeting and was always there to lend a hand. We will forever miss Bobby and his smile & laughter. I will personally miss him for being there for me when I needed a trustworthy member to assist with an event. Bobby was one of those people who'd reassure me that everything will be OK. He'd always say "No worry Mahina, we got this"... Now, I suddenly feel lost without him. However, I know Da Hui has an angel watching over us and I am confident he will guide us in the right direction.
We will always remember your kind spirit, great personality, giving & caring soul Bobby Kaleikau. You will forever be in our hearts.....we'll miss you.
Aloha,
Hui Founders, Presidency and Members of
The Hui O He'e Nalu (a.k.a. DA HUI)
Aloha,
I just wanted to thank everyone for all of there warm wishes and kind words about Bob Kaleikau at the shop and on the phone over the last week.
It's amazing to realize the number of lives that Bob touched. He was the most kind hearted person you could've ever met and he is greatly missed. His Aloha Spirit was unmatched by anyone I've ever met, I'd say a modern day Duke Kahanamoku. He made everyone feel like they belonged. He helped guide those who needed it to be better people. Whenever Bobby was around the area was sure to be filled with laughter and rousing alike, in the most genuine way.
He cared for his friends like family and treated them accordingly. His dedication to the Hui O He'e Nalu and his job were astounding.
This is the hardest lose a lot of people have had to deal with due the unexpectedness and Bob's incredible personality along with all of the unanswered questions at this point.
In the hopes of updating of many of Bob's friends as possible I just wanted to let them know that at this moment the pending Paddle Out that was being scheduled for Saturday is postponed. There was trouble in contacting Bob's family this week but today (2/22) some of his friends have just talked with them. Plans should begin to be laid out as early as the begining of next week. Everyone is doing there best in this difficult time to share as much info as possible with all concerned. Please feel free to Email or call me with any questions.
We all love you Bob,
LG Shaw
