Hopefully enough people will take the time to read and understand what you are expressing. I have been guilty of the troll you speak of. I have ruined many surfers trips to the islands just because i could be a jerk, get my waves and nobody would say anything. Older, wiser and surfing better than ever, I finally found that being angry in the water doesn't help you find peace in the water, it destroys the very reason you start surfing in the first place. I want to apologize to you and my fellow surfers for the years I was abusive and wrong in the water. Thank you.

Amen! I really think we should adopt a policy when it's small like it is right now on Oahu. If someone has the right away and they yell "share" than everyone else can hop on. If they don't yell "share" its known that anyone that drops in is snaking. SIMPLE! Living and surfing in Hawaii makes me constantly want to show Aloha to others in the water. When I see a bunch of dudes getting AGRO in the water it really really bums me out. (I'm sure girls do to but I've never seen it). Also as a lady out there watching guys go at it like that frankly is scary and lame! And guys just so you know none of us "chicks" are impressed at all! Also what kind of example are we showing the kids out there? The coolest thing to me is seeing people that shred and show Aloha for others. If we start thinking we own the place the ocean will teach us other wise. Every wave is a gift! Respect? For sure I am into it. But when people want to kill each other over waves I just think “What would Duke Do”?

Amen to this article brother. nicely put. Lived and surfed all my life in Hawaii and have plenty of Rage Stories, even to this day! Some locals feel thier turf belongs to them as they surf it, and more importantly have majically become the protector of the surf spot from mainly haoles, which seems to be the trend with most here. I carry the spirit of Aloha, as you do, and can only hope this is contagious in the water. Aloha!
