The Surfrider Foundation has confirmed more than 120 official International Surfing Day events over 20 countries taking place on Wednesday, June 20th. Surfrider Foundation Chapters, along with various other organizations and groups will host beach cleanups, dune restorations, surf clinics, and other fun surf-themed activities worldwide, allowing people to celebrate surfing and give back to our oceans, waves and beaches.

In addition to the events taking place worldwide, the Surfrider Foundation, TransWorld SURF and SME are producing an eight-hour web-a-thon to activate fans of surfing who do not live near the beach. Influenced by the MDA telethons popularized in the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s, the ISD web-a-thon will feature a variety of guests including pro surfers, celebrities, environmental heroes and musical guests conducting interviews, performing live and answering phones to help the Surfrider Foundation reach its goal of 2,000 new members.

“This year promises to be our best year yet in terms all the various events taking place around the world, our Web-a-thon, and the great ISD membership packages being offered to our supporters,” says Matt McClain, Director of Marketing and Communications for the Surfrider Foundation.
