Hurley Pro Rounds 3 & 4 finish in pumping Lowers.
Surf News, 19 September, 2012 : The Hurley Pro at Trestles, Stop No. 6 of 10 on the ASP World Championship Tour (WCT), returned to the cobblestone pointbreak of Lower Trestles for the third day of competition, witnessing the world’s best surfers tear in to building four-to-six foot faces & glassy waves.
Joel Parkinson (AUS), 31, current No. 2 on the ASP WCT rankings, opened his Round 3 campaign by unloading the highest single-wave score of the Hurley Pro at Trestles of 9.93 out of 10. The stylish Australian locked into a lengthy righthand wall, combining a seamless array of tail-drifting turns and carves for the near-perfect ride and went on to find a backup score to eliminate California Veteran Taylor Knox (USA), 41.
Brett Simpson put in a commanding performance against Kieren Perrow, winning the heat by three points, the second largest margin of round two.

Surf News, 16 September, 2012 : The 2012 Hurley Pro at Trestles kicked off competition today in two-to-four foot (1 metre) waves at the iconic high-performance venue of Lower Trestles, bearing witness to a sensational day of surfing as the ASP Top 34 completed the opening round of competition. Stop No. 6 of 10 on the 2012 ASP World Championship Tour, the Hurley Pro at Trestles marks a proven crucial stop in season, with the event victor ultimately winning the ASP World Title the past four years.
Kelly Slater (USA), 40, reigning 11-time ASP World Champion and defending five-time Hurley Pro at Trestles winner, built momentum throughout his opening heat to advance directly to Round 3 over fellow veterans Tiago Pires (PRT), 32, and Taylor Knox (USA), 40. Admittedly, Slater has been spending less time in the water lately, but showed no signs of fatigue in his dominant Round 1 performance.
