LOS ANGELES (Monday, March 5, 2012) – The highly anticipated arrival of ASP World Championship Tour rookie Kolohe Andino (USA), 17, has finally gone down, with the California Prodigy taking a 13th place finish in a solid showing, where he nearly scalped eventual Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast runner-up Adriano de Souza (BRA), 25, in their Round 3 clash. ESPN caught up with Andino to see what his first experience as an official member of the ASP Top 34 was all about… Surfing against Slater, the relief of wrapping up his first event and looking ahead to Bells. Kids are loving it. The newest "SpongeBob's Surf & Skate Roadtrip" video game has been released for XBox 360 and Nintendo DS and feature a creative world of boardriding stunts.

SpongeBob and his very best Bikini Bottom pal, Patrick, have entered an incredible planet of waves and ramps to put your boarding skills to the test.

 

"SpongeBob's Surf & Skate Roadtrip" is a action sports console game for the youngsters, but it wouldn't be strange if the veterans get into it. The arcade-style challenges are funny and fluid and offer head-to-head competitions, too.

There are seven challenges to face and 12 sublime environments to discover. Whether you're a passionate surfer or a skateboarding fan, there's plenty of experiences to live in a story or challenge mode.

Hawaii has lost one of their beloved Native son, Melvin Kanaulu Kinney , he was 57 years old.  On February 1, 2012 while watching the waves right off the bike path of Sunset Beach Mel suffered a heart attack. He fell into the arms of his best friend Chuck Andrus, less than 20 minutes before then he was surfing perfect 6-10 ft Sunset for 2 hours

RESULTS ARE IN: Ian Walsh’s Menehune Mayhem is a one day surf event that pits Maui’s Top Junior Surfers in an all day competition. The event’s four person finals determine podium positions. Two GPA awards were given out at the event for highest GPA for a boy and girl, and five memorial awards in which all competitors are eligible to win, which are: the Eric Diaz Award, the Steve Cooney Award, the Sion Milosky Award, the Andy Irons Award, and the Tristan “Turtle” Brennan Award. Event is held at Walsh’s home break, Ho’okipa Beach Park on the North Shore of Maui.

When World Tour events finish, it usually takes me a few hours—even days, sometimes—for everything that happened to fully register. Not today though. Not when the final day of Snapper is held in 2- to 3-foot slop and everything reverts to script. But in spite of mediocre conditions, a few pivotal moments stand out.

Josh Kerr, after going 0-4 vs. Slater in quarterfinal appearances last year, finally got through to a semifinal, defeating Kelly in decisive fashion. Throughout numerous heats, Kerr showed off improved combinations, connecting maneuvers that compliment the most complete air game in the world. Kerr is a very stable, dangerous threat on Tour. Uncharacteristically, Slater came up short in their match-up, and when Kelly loses, he loses interest in the not-so-dreamy “Dream Tour.” It had to happen eventually.

 

CAPBRETON, France – The 2012 Protest Vendée Pro, an ASP Europe 3-Star event was just officially confirmed and will be running from April 19-22, 2012 as the season’s first event in Europe.

The Vendée region and particularly La Sauzaie has been hosting surfing events for more than two decades now and is renowned for its famous A-Frame reefbreak that can offer perfect conditions to both surfers and the audience with a very close lookout and an ‘arena’ setup for the public.

Save The Waves Coalition is excited to announce that it has hired a new Executive Director, Ginaia Kelly, to join the Save The Waves team beginning in April, 2012. An attorney by training, Kelly has extensive leadership and development experience in the nonprofit arena, including serving as a director and president for Santa Cruz-based nonprofit Save Our Shores over the past five years. She’s also a passionate surfer and environmentalist, having been a competitive longboarder and a surfer in the Santa Cruz area for over 20 years.

The SeaHawaii Women's Pro at Pipeline's waiting period is going to begin March 1st with the shortboarding contest finishing up on the 9th of March and the bodyboarding division coming to a close on the 15th of March. Kicking off the event on February 29th is the opening ceremony hosted by Surfer The Bar at Turtle Bay Resort, the night will consist of autograph signing, opening prayer, and the Talk Story series featuring world class paddler and bodyboarder Kanesa Duncan, followed up with a San Lorenzo Fashion Bikini show.
