Per company policy, terms of the deal are not being disclosed. Hailing from Australia's Gold Coast, Fanning (30) has been a Rip Curl teamrider for over 14 years. From countless Search strikes to our ASP World Tour events, Mick has been an icon for the Brand, and he now enters the next 5 years with energy and enthusiasm for what the future holds.

NSSA HI held its event at Haleiwa on North Shore of Oahu this past weekend. Saturday was perfect for younger kids with fun size waves and Sunday was perfect for older kids with challenging big over head size waves. When older kids showed up to the event on Sunday, they were stoked! It's amazing how these boys and girls were surfing on these waves. Enjoy the video!

Surf News, 29 February. Winter closed its door on the three-month holding period of the Quiksilver In Memory of Eddie Aikau big wave event today. An active season kept elite big wave riders entertained on Oahu’s North Shore but failed to produce the solid day of 20-foot-plus surf at Waimea Bay that ‘The Eddie’ mandates.

The Quiksilver In Memory of Eddie Aikau was last held in December of 2009, won by California’s Greg Long. The world’s best big wave riders will have to wait another year. This was the 27th year of the event. “As much as we’d like to see this dedication run every year, the event is committed to meeting the criteria of 20 feet,” said contest director George Downing.

SNAPPER ROCKS, Queensland/Australia – After four consecutive days of action, event organizers have opted for a lay day Wednesday for the Quiksilver and Roxy Pro Gold Coast presented by Land Rover. The opening stop on the 2012 ASP World Championship Tour, the Quiksilver and Roxy Pro Gold Coast has enjoyed non-stop action since the opening day of the waiting period, but onshore winds and a decreasing swell have forced event organizers to call competition off for the day.

World Bank Issues SOS For Oceans, Backs Alliance

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 27 February, 2012 : - - The World Bank announced on Friday a global alliance to better manage and protect the world's oceans, which are under threat from over-fishing, pollution and climate change. Oceans are the lifeblood of the planet and the global economy, World Bank President Robert Zoellick told a conference on ocean conservation in Singapore. Yet the seas have become overexploited, coastlines badly degraded and reefs under threat from pollution and rising temperatures.
