Nat Young is the 2013 Rookie of the Year

Nat Young has taken out the 2013 ASP World Championship Tour Rookie of the Year title.

The blond boy from Santa Cruz is the first Northern California surfer to qualify for the Dream Tour since Adam Replogle, in 1998, and already makes waves with the giants of pro surfing.


HIC Pro launches Hawaiian season

Winter means waves in Hawaii, and Oahu's North Shore is about to become the focal point of the surfing world again. Vans Presents the HIC Pro will launch Hawaii's 2013 big wave season at Sunset Beach, October 29 to November 10. The HIC Pro is a local qualifier for the famed Vans Triple Crown of Surfing (November 12-December 20) that will begin right after the crowning of this year's HIC Pro champion.

The HIC Pro is a $95,000 4-star rated Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) event that features the best talents from Hawaii and pits them against ambitious young blood from eight other nations: Australia, Tahiti, Japan, Brazil, Peru, Argentina, France and US Mainland.


ASP signs ESPN, YouTube & Facebook deal

ESPN to be exclusive U.S. domestic broadcaster, other deals on tap

15 October. Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) International announces media/distribution agreements with ESPN, YouTube and Facebook across the linear broadcast, digital and social media spectrums. Each agreement will commence in 2014 to help celebrate and grow the sport of surfing worldwide. Today’s announcements mark the first national and global media deals in the history of professional surfing.

Kai Lenny secures the 2013 World Series Crown in a dramatic finish

It was a picture perfect day here at Turtle Bay Resort today, as light winds and a solid WNW swell provided the most spectacular conditions imaginable for the Final day of action for both the Stand Up World Series Finals at Turtle Bay, but also the 2013 World Championship Season. The scene was set for the conclusion of a World Title Race that has kept the world on their toes throughout the 2013 Season, as 2 young athletes from Maui battled it out, race by race, country by country towards the elusive World Championship Crown.

The Rip Curl Pro Portugal presented my Moche resumed Monday morning in windy two-to-three foot (1 metre) surf at the primary venue of Supertubos, completing the first four heats of Round 2 before conditions deteriorated and forced event organizers to call competition off for the day.

You heard it here first folks - Jamie O'Brien has been banned from the 2013 Triple Crown of Surfing, after punching Ricardo dos Santos during the Billabong Pro Tahiti.

The Hawaiian charger - Mr Pipeline - will not be showing off his tube riding skills at his Pipeline break, as the Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) decides to punish him with no competition untill the end of 2013.


2013 Stand Up World Series Finals at the beautiful Turtle Bay Resort October 11-13


The topography at Turtle Bay provides the perfect arena for this prestigious World Championship Final, with the ultimate sprint racing course to the west of the property, lining the shoreline and running through the surf at ‘Pool Bars’ surf break. The racing is intense, and provides a spectacular sporting showdown for on site and online viewers to watch from all over the world as it all comes down to the wire for the World Championship Title at Turtle Bay.


The 61st Annual Molokaʻi Hoe - October 13th, 2013


Each year over 1000+ paddlers from around the world compete in the Molokaʻi Hoe, the men's world championship in outrigger canoe racing. This year marks the Molokaʻi Hoe's 61st crossing of the treacherous Kaʻiwi Channel.
