The noon sun was high and hot, and the winds were howling. Pacific blue rolled in 3-4 foot swells thrashing the jade cliffs, as Andrew Logreco, 28, and Ka'eo Abbey, 26, battled for the lead of the fourth annual Na Pali Race. Beaded with sweat and salt water, they bent to 90 degrees, pulling themselves forward with each powerful stroke, then happily rode bump after bump down the 17-mile Na Pali coast from Haena to Polihale State Park.

Mick Fanning Wins Fourth Quiksilver Pro France,

Mick Fanning (AUS) 32, has just won the Quiksilver Pro France in an action packed final over Gabriel Medina (BRA) 19, in 3-4Ft (1 metre) waves at the back up venue of Le Penon in Seignosse.

There's a storm brewing in the North Atlantic right now. It's heading towards Portugal and is expected to reach peak intensity upon landfall on or around October 3. It's kind of unusual, this storm: Two major fronts, nearly equal in size and strength, will meet head-on, which will make for one powerful and unpredictable tempest.

Quarterfinalists decided for the Quik Pro France

John John Florence (HAW) 20, current World No.15 coming into the Quiksilver Pro France, started on a fast hollow righthander in the opening seconds of his Round 4 matchup against Mick Fanning (AUS) and Michel Bourez (PYF) 27. The talented Hawaiian exited the barrel beautifully to score an excellent 8.00 point ride which eventually won him a ticket for the quarter-finals.

Clay Marzo's biography hits shelves in 2014

Freestyle surfing great Clay Marzo and his mastery of the waves, as well as his life with Asperger's Syndrome, are the subject of "Just Add Water," a biography by Robert Yehling. The book is scheduled to be published by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt in 2014.

The book will feature Marzo's rise to greatness as one of the most unique and gifted surfers ever, as well as his lifelong struggle to deal with everyday life because of what was diagnosed as Asperger's Syndrome, a developmental "re-wiring" of the brain, in 2007.

Quiksilver Pro France round 3 finished 8am HI time. Should restart tonight 8pm.

The Quiksilver Pro France saw action resume this morning in France (last nite for Hawaii) with the third round of competition at the main site of La Graviere after four consecutive lay days due to small surf on offer. An expected 4-6Ft swell built overnight is producing quality barrels today at the iconic La Graviere in Hossegor.

Event No.8 of 10 on the 2013 ASP World Championship Tour, the Quiksilver Pro France will play a vital role in both the ASP World Title race and the requalification campaigns of surfers in the Elite Top34.
