TODAY: Mens Final Rounds At Margaret River Pro

Quarterfinalists were decided today at the Drug Aware Margaret River Pro, stop No. 2 on the 2014 Samsung Galaxy ASP World Championship Tour. Following the completion of Round 4 at Main Break, history was made when Round 5 of the competition was held at the iconic Western Australian slab 'The Box' for the first time in history.

Largest-ever tagged great white

The tagging of a huge five-metre white pointer in King George Sound has presented a potentially huge breakthrough in shark research and a triumph for local Fisheries staff. The massive female great white, estimated to weigh about 1.6 tonnes, was the biggest ever internally tagged in Australia, and one of the largest in the world.

Carissa Moore Strikes again! Claims the victory at Margaret River!

Reigning two-time ASP Women's World Champion Carissa Moore was victorious today, winning the Drug Aware Margaret River Women’s Pro and defending her event title in an electric day of competition. Moore battled against 2013 ASP Women’s Runner-UpTyler Wright (AUS) in what proved to be a thrilling Final for the second stop on the 2014 Samsung Galaxy ASP Women’s World Championship Tour.

A spectacular day of surfing at the Drug Aware Margaret River Pro saw the Women’s Semifinalists decided with nine-point rides from both Carissa Moore and Sally Fitzgibbons. The reigning ASP Women’s World Champion, Moore, will matchup against ASP World No. 1 Stephanie Gilmore while Fitzgibbons will face 2012 ASP Runner-up Tyler Wright in a repeat of last year's Semifinal.

Drug Aware Margaret River Pro Day 1 Recap

The Drug Aware Margaret River Pro, Stop No. 2 on the 2014 Samsung Galaxy ASP World Championship Tour, was called ON today for the Men's and Women's Round 1 in four-to-six foot waves. In an action packed first day of competition there were standout performances from Julian Wilson (AUS), Gabriel Medina (BRA) and Courtney Conlogue (USA). With Round 1 complete for both the men and women winners will advance directly to Round 3 while the rest will battle again in elimination Round 2.


Kelly splits from long time sponsor Quiksilver

Yes Quiksilver and Kelly Slater are separating as Kelly embarks on a path to create his own brand. Both parties are amicable, sending out press releases and posting on their respective Facebook pages. In short: Kelly will create his new brand through the Kering Group, who owns Volcom and Electric (as well as non-action sports brands like Gucci and Stella McCartney.)


Breaking News: Slater Splits from Quiksilver

Today, in a move tantamount to Michael Jordan splitting with Nike or David Beckham with Adidas, Kelly Slater has announced his parting ways from 23-year sponsor Quiksilver.

Slater signed with Quiksilver in 1990 at the age of 18 just before winning the US$100,000 Body Glove Surfbout at Lower Trestles and announcing himself as a contender on the international stage. Slater secured his first of 11 ASP World Titles in 1992 at the age of 20.
