Oh, to be John John Florence and to cup the surfing sphere in your pink palm. Mr Florence lands at number one because he owns surfing’s biggest-ever contract. If you wanna make your company look intensely good, then aligning yourself with John is a great place to start. There’s a lot of reasons why, but let’s zoom one very specific occurrence: This week, John John dropped his latest edit, & Again. And as of writing, 20 hours after the fact, the vimeo play count is steaming north of 65k plays with embeds on the URL of every major surf media portal in the world. That sounds like money-can’t-buy representation, but it ain’t: A five-year, $3.2 million per-year contract (totalling $16 million) aligned Hurley with the world’s most marketable surfer right now. Go Meatless More Often: “Food accounts for at least half of your water footprint,” says Kai Olson-Sawyer, a research and policy analyst at Grace Communications Foundation. “Eating less meat is the key to reducing it, because of all the water needed to raise the livestock.” Start by skipping red meat more often. It takes 1,857 gallons of water to produce a single pound of beef. Pork, chicken, and lamb require much less....

Was breathing one of the keys to Mick's 3rd World Title?

Catch RedBulls story and Workout of the Week: Mick Fanning on breathing. Something all of us can likely use to our greater benefit.

Oxygen is the key to life. We know that right? But how much do we know about the mechanics of breathing and of our mostly unawakened capabilities?

If you're like most, a five-second wipeout has you close to panic and desperately swallowing air when you do surface. Imagine if you could take a two-wave, one-minute hit on the head without punching the panic button...

This was. One of. The greatest. Wins. In surfing history. A 21-year-old goofy footer, from the beach breaks of Brazil against Joel Parkinson, former World Champion and the undisputed king of Behind the Rock Snapper – one of the most technical, dangerous pieces of right point in the world – at that very place. And he did it, convincingly so, leaving the Australian answerless with still two minutes remaining in the final.
