Surf News, 30 January, 2012 : - - Coolangatta -- Dane Reynolds may have decided to sit out the ASP World Tour for 2012 but spectators will still get to enjoy his extraordinary talents when he lines up as a wildcard at the Quiksilver Pro presented by Land Rover starting on the Gold Coast from 25th February. The 26-year-old from Ventura, California, is easily one of the most exciting and creative surfers on the planet but endured a difficult year on the Tour in 2011 which was badly disrupted by injury.
By Ross Williams. If you were patient enough there was a really good tube ride to be found. That was the order of the day at the Volcom Pipe Pro when surfers woke up Sunday morning to four to six feet of windy, wonky treasures. After the size, chaos and carnage of Sunday, the second day of the contest saw the conditions a lot more tame, but nonetheless, there was still plenty of dodging, ducking and diving to maneuver in and out of the barrel. A strong 15 to 25 mph trade wind whipping across the North Shore didn't help matters. Just the same, there were a lot of good rides that went down and plenty of guys showed why they're paid to surf.

HONOLULU - (Jan. 28, 2012) -- The Banzai Pipeline caught everyone off guard Saturday. Waves doubled and tripled in size from one heat to the next before the opening day of competition at The Volcom Pipe Pro was called off due to dangerous conditions at 10:30am. Only seven heats and three hours of competition were held, yet still sufficient time for injuries, wipeouts and hairball rides to be registered. Waves maxed out in the 15+ foot range local scale.
