‘The Longest Ride’ – a rock-jazz tribute to fallen surfer Andy Irons - featuring David Crosby & Graham Nash

Making good on his promise of releasing at least one album of original material each decade Allan offers up ‘Deep Water’ his fifth. Recorded with the generous help of twenty-one stellar musicians playing at top form. You'll find songs ranging in territory from ‘The Longest Ride’ – a rock-jazz tribute to fallen surfer Andy Irons - featuring David Crosby & Graham Nash - to ‘The Downturn’ - a tongue-in-cheek take on the current state of economic mayhem. The record also features several character-driven compositions, among them ‘Other Than That’ - a vocal and drums only litany on the worst aspects of some people we all know, set to a late ’50′s beat-poet jazz groove, and the wizened and weary weed smuggler confessional of the searing rock-blues 'Monkey Business'.

Phil Edwards: the first surfer of Pipeline

Just over half a century ago...Philip Edwards became the first surfer to ride real Banzai Pipeline, in Hawaii, back in 1961. Phil, also known as "The Guayule Kid", was born on the 10th June 1938, in Long Beach, California.

Before completing 10 year of age, Phil Edwards was already feeling the attractionof water, ocean and waves. In those days, California was the Mecca of international surfing. The US West Coast had everything for everyone. Waves of all types, a vivid surf culture and an emerging surf industry.

In Dana Point, California, surfers tried to impress spectators with serious wave riding stunts at the famous surf break of Killer Dana, a spot for experienced watermen. Killer Dana was "the" surf spot where you might became the most influential surfer of all time, in a matter of day.

Fun days in January on here on Oahu

We had some fun days in January on here on Oahu, Hawaii. Feels like when waves were big, we had contests... so mostly fun size waves on this free surf sessions webisode.
Enjoy the video!

Novus Swell was started to highlight Hawaii grom surfers.
It was originally started as an online magazine but we found out kids don't read the articles but just watching the videos... so we've decided to do videos episodes (webisodes) every Tuesday.
Enjoy and let us know how we can improve!
