No One has ever answered the question " How do they survive" Verizon Wipeout Nominees - Billabong XXL Big Wave Awards 2012

The five finalists for the Verizon Wipeout of the Year category of the 2012 Billabong XXL Global Big Wave Awards are presented for your examination. No surfers were seriously injured in the making of this clip. For more information see the event website at www.BillabongXXL.com.
My turn: year after year Im continually astounded how these brave (crazy?) surfers survive these horrendous wipeouts. They skate over and emerse under tons of fast moving, heavy water over shallow reefs. These athletes are also moving at speeds most surfers rarely acheive. These are people like you and me, made of flesh and bone who need oxygen to live. But, that's about the only way we are similar. Notice also that they dont wear helmets!

It's like some sorta honor code to 'go for it' a naked and as vunerable as you can. The rush comes from tempting fate and being placed -by choice- in God's Hands. Then living to tell the tale. But please, tell us 'what was it like and how did you live?"
My guess is these surfers really dont know ...becasue they're operating on survival instincts through out the whole ordeal.

What do you think?
