After their long journey, and a wonderful send off from the Honolulu International Airport the Hawaii Surf Team arrived in Nicaragua safe and sound. Everyone was eager to test the waters of Playa Santana after checking into their accommodations, which are only a few minutes walk from the contest venue.

Yesterday, June 6th was their first pre-event training day. The day started with an early morning yoga session. After breakfast, the team went to test their boards and fins. They are also learning the line up of Playa Santana.

The entire team surfed well. Everyone is looking good and feeling great. After lunch the team returned to Playa Santana to register with the ISA officials. Many other teams arrived today such as Uruguay, Peru, Barbados, and Portugal. Most of the other teams are expected tomorrow.

The team is staying focused. After registration, the coaches ran practice heats until dark. The forecast predicts an increase in the swell tomorrow and everyone is excited to get back into the water.
