The year-long surfing competition, now in its thirteenth edition, recognizes the greatest achievements in big wave riding, wherever and whenever they happen, as long as it is captured on video or in still photographs. The swell, generated by the remnants of Typhoon Maliksi which became a 'ender bender' system (warm to cold core storm) and hit the Hawaiian chain Monday from the WNW up to 12' solid; then the 2nd phase 1st forecasted by SNN hit 20' local scale Tuesday with Peahi peaking up to 25' or 40' faces!
