You might think you know everything there is to know about surfer Bethany Hamilton, but she’d tell you differently. Her story has commanded headlines ever since she lost her left arm in a 2003 shark attack while surfing in Hawaii. Her subsequent comeback to the world of professional surfing was the basis of the 2011 film Soul Surfer. And her 2013 wedding was blurbed in People magazine. As an inspiration to millions of people worldwide, it’s no surprise that Hamilton has lived much of her life in the spotlight.
After winning the Surf-N-Sea Pipe Pro at Pipeline on the north shore of Oahu, Hawaii, in March, Hamilton made her way to California for the launch of her new Cobian signature sandal at Universal CityWalk Flip Flop Shops. In the midst of a heavy schedule that included a talk, poster signings, and greeting her fans, Hamilton took some time out to share some of her favorite things with GrindTV. And while her bio may read like that of a world-famous star, even a cursory glance at her list will tell you that Hamilton is a regular girl who enjoys her home life. Here are a few of her favorite things:
