Next stop on tour - The Billabong Pro Tahiti

August 15 - 26, 2014

The History: Surfing has its deepest roots in the Polynesian islands, where the journey from Tahiti to Hawaii could only be survived by the most accomplished watermen. With their superior water skills, they brought their paipo (belly) boards. Bodyboarding still rages on the perfect lefts at Teahupo'o, known for its heavy, glassy waves that can reach double-overhead.

U.S Women's Pro Tour returns to Honolua Bay

You know what’s great? When amazing surfers get to surf amazing waves. Professional surfing does a pretty decent job of walking that tightrope between shitty waves with lots of viewers and amazing waves with none, but sometimes it falls flat. Mother Nature can be a real bitch sometimes, right? And of course, the women nearly always get the short straw. One day of great waves in the contest window? We’re watching the men’s heats. As soon as the junk rolls in, the women get to surf. There’s the rare occasion when they actually get to showcase what they are capable of during a contest, but it’s not too often.

U.S. Open of Surfing psycho recap

Love it or loathe it, you can’t argue that there isn’t some incredible high-performance surfing going down at the Vans U.S. Open of Surfing in Huntington Beach, California.
