The 2015 VISSLA ISA World Junior Surfing Championship was officially declared open in Oceanside, California, marking the largest gathering of the world’s best junior surfers.

Dignitaries present at the ceremony included Fernando Aguerre, ISA President, Jim Wood, Mayor of Oceanside, Paul Naude, VISSLA President, and Karin Sierralta, ISA Vice President, who welcomed the National Delegations and celebrated the opening of the competition. Also in attendance was a delegation from the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) to survey the San Diego region as a potential host of the 2017 World Beach Games.

The ceremony began with the Parade of Nations, as each National Team marched down the boardwalk in Oceanside waving their national flags.
